Head of Sales - Aggregates & Logistics

Reporting To: CEO 

Location: Ilkeston 

Package: up to £80k (DOE) plus bonus OTE £100k

My client is an established firm in the heavy plant / quarry / aggregates industry, and they are looking to recruit a Head of Sales.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

The Head of Sales will be responsible for material, optimising transport and logistic costs, minimising loss, and leveraging existing industry contacts as well as the following:-
  • Sales Development: Drive sales growth in the recycled aggregates sector to identify new markets such as warehousing. Identify, engage and develop relationships with potential buyers. Achieve sales targets as agreed with the Managing Director.

  • Client Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain professional high level relationships with off takers of material in the aggregates industry. Provide excellent customer service to foster long-term partnerships.

  • Logistics and Transport Optimisation: Develop and implement strategies for logistics and transport to minimise costs and prevent loss. Coordinate with the logistics and operations team to ensure efficient delivery of products whilst reducing costs. 

  • Contract Negotiation: Negotiate contracts and long-term offtake agreements, ensuring they meet company's profitability standards and comply with all relevant regulations and laws.

  • Market Analysis: Keep abreast of market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory issues in the recycled aggregates sector to inform sales strategies.

  • Reporting: Prepare and present regular sales reports to senior management. Provide insights on sales performance, market trends, and challenges.


  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of sales experience in the aggregates industry. Proven track record in a similar role, ideally in the recycled aggregates sector. 

  • Skills: Excellent negotiation, relationship management, and communication skills. Proficient in the use of CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of the aggregates market, particularly in the area of recycled aggregates. Knowledge of logistics and transport cost optimisation is essential. 

  • Personal Attributes: Self-motivated, results-oriented, excellent leadership skills and able to work independently. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Network: Existing network of industry contacts with off takers of material in the aggregates sector.
